Positives and Negatives of Legalizing Marijuana - 1886 Words

I have always been against the use of all illegal drugs including marijuana, but while researching this topic, I have learned a lot about some of the positives of legalizing marijuana use. Considering it is classified as an illegal controlled substance, I have always been under the assumption that marijuana was bad for people, no matter what my friends may have said about how good it was. I was peer pressured into trying it when I was fourteen. I knew right away that it was not for me. It made me pass out and sick to my stomach when I woke up. That reiterated my assumption that it was bad for people. I did not understand how people could like it. I figured other people must not have had the same reaction as I did after smoking it.†¦show more content†¦It can also make judging distances and reacting to signals and sounds while driving more difficult. Marijuana has been linked to adolescents engaging in risky behaviors. Research has shown a link between frequent marijuana use and increased violent behavior. Research found that among youth, the incidence of physically attacking people, destroying property and stealing increased in proportion to the number of days marijuana was smoked in the past year (Fiction). Youths engaging in delinquent behavior rose right along with their marijuana use. The ability of young people to concentrate and retain information has been linked to heavy marijuana use. Regular marijuana use has been shown to be associated with cognitive deficits and poor academic performance (Fiction). Students who smoke marijuana are known to skip classes and some miss classes because of illnesses caused by smoking marijuana. World War Two World War Two began in 1939 and it when for six year, World War Two lasted until both the Germans and the Japanese had surrendered in 1945, which was six years after it began. It began in September 1939 when Britain and France declared war on Germany after Germany had invaded Poland. January 1933 Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany and he immediately he secretly built up Germany s army and weapons. In 1934 he made the size of the army bigger and he began to build warships and he created a German air force. The Making of a Hero Essay Hero’s come in many shapes and sizes, but not all of them have flowing capes and tight spandex pants. The real hero’s are the average people just trying to do the right thing. I believe a hero is someone who is determined to do good, no matter the cost. A hero is someone who is selfless in bad situations and willing to put their own life at risk so that another person might live to see another day. Finally a hero is a leader and role model to those around them, staying calm and strong in the face of danger. This happened when I had to help a gunshot victim stay alive. There are many changes that can happen in a person’s life. Some changes are very small and wouldnt change our life very much. However, other events could be very important and could change a persons whole life, such as getting married having a baby, or losing someone special. The important event that changed my life is the day I had to step up and be a hero to someone else. People usually just ask me where the bathroom is or if we are hiring. Sometimes they ask where they can find the milk or bread. However on this day in late 2011 while I was working in the frontend at Russ’s Market. A very frazzled and shockingly pale young man stumbled into our store. He slowly made his way to the closest check stand. As his gaze turned upward to the middle aged women working behind the counter he softly said â€Å"I’ve just been shot† and continued to slowly shuffle like a zombie further into the store. Being the Assistant Service Manager I was sitting in my office filling out some paperwork when over the p. a. system crackled â€Å"umcode 44 blue † I could hear the uneasiness in her voice, so I knew it wasn’t something small, but I had no idea what to expect. Still processing the whole situation I realized he was in complete shock, he was running on nothing but pure adrenaline. I immediately grabbed the closest chair and got him to sit down, as continued movement would only cause more blood to be pumped out. By this point there was beginning to be a crowd of onlookers gathering around us. I could hear people in the crowd telling one another to call 911. But no one was actually calling it, Just telling one another to call. I pulled out my cell phone and tossed it to my employee and told him to â€Å"call 911. I turned to another employee who was dumbfounded in the crowd. â€Å"Get me the first aid kit, the blood pathogen kit, and the biohazard bags. † I said, they quickly ran off. But when all was said and done, I got home and relaxed for a while and I have to admit I felt good, about everything. I mean I might have actually saved that kids life tonight. The following days I kept up on the kid’s condition, he would need some physical therapy but he was alive and well. Accounting Professional and Ethical Standard Board, commonly known as APESB, has issued the principles of APES 110. APESB is an independent accounting body of Australia in the year of 2006. The main role of APESB is to develop and issue various kinds of ethical standards in the process of accounting in order to save the interests of public. The development of APES 110 is considered as one of the major initiatives of APESB. In addition, the International Ethical Standard Board for Accountants, commonly known as IESBA is also involved in the development of APES 110. The main purpose of this code is to make the accountants of Australia and others comply with the various kinds of fundamental principles of accounting (apesb.org.au, 2017). As per APES 110, all the accountants must comply with all the accounting rules and principles; otherwise, they will be prevented from doing all kinds of accounting works. It i s expected that the accountants must guided by the spirit of this code. As per the provided case study, the major effects of volatile economic situation on the business operations of the organization are not included in the agenda for the meeting of 2009. Apart from this, the required audit operation on the loan portfolio is also not included in the meeting agenda. However, the CEO of the organization has provide assurance that there is not any kind of important issues regarding the financial crisis and audit on loan portfolio that needs to be addressed in the meeting agenda. This is not the case as these are the major issues. In addition, the member of audit committee is suspecting that some of the financial figures have been manipulated. In this complex ethi cal dilemma, the audit member can take suitable decisions by using the twelve questions of Laura Nash model. In this situation, it is needed to address these major issues in front of the management and auditor committee of the company. First, the audit associate needs to accurately define these major issues in from of everyone in order to make them aware of the negative effects of the problems (Cohen, 2013). In this case, proper evidences, data need to be presented to everyone to prove the matter. The management needs to be understood that the audit associate is doing this for the betterment of the company. The intention of the audit associate behind this process of decision-making is to save the organization from the potential financial hazards. This intention needs to be compared with the problem results. The expected result of the present situation needs to be presented to the management to make them aware about the potential danger of the company. On the other hand, it need to be shown to the management that this decision is not going to hurt anyone in the organization as it is good for everyone (Tsalikis Fritzsche, 2013). In addition, the audit associate needs to make the management understand that he is doing this irrespective of his position in the organization and he has no self involved in this decision making process.
